President Donald Trump has expressed renewed optimism about expanding the Abraham Accords, saying Saudi Arabia has shown “willingness to join,” citing recent indications of interest as of October 16, 2025.

The Abraham Accords, established in 2020 during Trump’s presidency, marked a historic step toward normalizing diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab nations, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan. Trump suggested that Saudi Arabia’s participation could spark a new wave of regional cooperation and reshape the Middle East’s diplomatic landscape.

However, no official confirmation or public statement from Riyadh has verified Trump’s claim. As of October 17–19, 2025, Saudi officials have not addressed reports of renewed engagement with the Accords. The kingdom has consistently maintained that any formal normalization with Israel would depend on tangible progress toward establishing a Palestinian state.

On October 15, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan reiterated that stance, emphasizing the importance of addressing Palestinian aspirations amid ongoing Gaza ceasefire talks. Despite this, Trump’s comments have reignited discussions about whether Saudi Arabia could eventually shift its position in pursuit of broader regional stability and economic cooperation.
