Police in Bremerton, Washington arrested 49-year-old Michael A. Scaletta-Teates after discovering he had been impersonating a police officer while armed.

Authorities say Scaletta-Teates, a convicted felon, showed up at multiple active crime scenes dressed in a full police uniform and claimed to be an off-duty detective from Edmonds. His actions raised immediate suspicion among real officers, who confronted and arrested him on the spot.

Scaletta-Teates now faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and criminal impersonation. He is being held on $50,000 bail, with a trial date scheduled for November 3.

The case has drawn sharp concern from law enforcement, who warn that impersonating officers not only undermines public trust but also poses serious safety risks to both the public and police.
