NEW YORK CITY — Four NYPD officers were injured Monday night after two police cruisers collided in the Rockaways while responding to a reported crime in progress.
The crash happened shortly after 8:00 PM at the intersection of Beach 34th Street and Seagirt Boulevard, within the 101st Precinct in Far Rockaway, Queens.
According to officials, both vehicles were en route to the same incident when they slammed into each other, causing significant damage to the cruisers. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the officers involved were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No civilians were involved in the crash. The NYPD has not released the names of the officers or details about the crime they were responding to.
An internal investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision.
