Australian police say the terrorists responsible for the deadly shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach were a father and his adult son, marking a significant development in the investigation into the attack that targeted a Jewish community event.

At a press conference, authorities confirmed that the two perpetrators were a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son. The attack occurred on December 14 during a Hanukkah celebration and resulted in at least 15 deaths, with many others injured. Police formally classified the incident as a terrorist attack motivated by antisemitism.

Officials identified the suspects as Sajid Akram, who was killed at the scene, and Naveed Akram, who was critically injured during the confrontation with police. Investigators said the pair acted together in carrying out the assault, which unfolded in a crowded public setting and prompted a large-scale emergency response.

Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine how the attack was planned, whether additional support networks were involved, and how the suspects obtained their weapons. Security agencies are also reviewing the suspects’ backgrounds and any prior interactions with law enforcement or intelligence services.

Authorities emphasized that the confirmation of a familial connection does not suggest broader family involvement and urged the public to avoid speculation as the inquiry continues.
