A massive landslide struck Pứt Village in Hùng Sơn Commune, Da Nang, Vietnam on November 13, 2025, burying homes, farmland, and infrastructure under millions of cubic meters of debris. The catastrophic flow forced the evacuation of 664 residents and left three workers missing, believed to be buried beneath the rapidly moving soil and rocks.

Eyewitness accounts describe the landslide as a terrifying, fluid torrent. The village chief recalled, “I heard a loud explosion followed by a rumbling sound like a truck running on the road. Looking up the mountain, I saw rocks and trees flowing down like a waterfall.” Video footage shows the reddish-brown debris cascading over 500 meters, uprooting trees, generating dust clouds, and resembling a soil liquefaction event despite unusually clear weather conditions.

Ongoing erosion and instability have prevented authorities from safely reaching the suspected burial site, complicating search and rescue operations. Emergency response teams continue to assess the extent of damage and coordinate relief for displaced residents, while engineers evaluate the mountain’s continued risk for further slides.
