An Israeli airstrike struck the Jamous area in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut widely known as a Hezbollah stronghold, on March 17, 2026. The strike left rubble scattered across the streets and damaged nearby buildings, including a commercial storefront identified as a Delta Shoes location. The attack is part of a broader escalation between Israel and Hezbollah that has intensified throughout early March.

According to Lebanese health officials, those earlier strikes in early March resulted in at least 31 deaths and 149 injuries, while the ongoing fighting has displaced hundreds of thousands of residents from densely populated neighborhoods. However, as of now, there has been no confirmed casualty report specifically tied to the Jamous strike.

The densely populated nature of Dahieh presents complex challenges for military operations. While Israeli forces maintain that the objective is to eliminate Hezbollah military infrastructure embedded within urban areas, the presence of civilian homes, shops, and public facilities increases the humanitarian risks associated with such strikes. Images from the aftermath show damaged storefronts, debris-covered streets, and emergency responders surveying the site.
