Aerial footage captured heavy police activity at a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire, as authorities conducted a manhunt for Claudio Neves Valente, the 48-year-old former Brown University student suspected in a series of deadly attacks.
Valente was linked to the December 13, 2025, shooting at Brown University, which killed two students and injured nine others during a study session. He was also suspected in the December 15 killing of an MIT professor in Brookline, Massachusetts. Reports indicate that unresolved grievances from his time at Brown may have motivated the attacks.
The three-day search spanned multiple jurisdictions, with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies coordinating operations across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Video footage of the Salem facility showed numerous marked and unmarked police vehicles, officers in tactical gear, and a perimeter established around the storage site.
Authorities later confirmed that Valente was located deceased at the facility from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing an end to the multi-state manhunt. No additional suspects have been reported, and officials are continuing to review evidence from both crime scenes to fully reconstruct the events.
The conclusion of the search follows an intensive investigation involving the FBI, local police departments, and other federal agencies. Law enforcement has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly around educational institutions, as part of ongoing efforts to improve campus safety.
