The interception highlights Ukraine’s growing ability to counter Russia’s persistent drone assaults, which have targeted infrastructure and frontline positions across the country. The Mi-8’s engagement marks one of the few documented instances of a helicopter neutralizing a loitering munition mid-flight—a complex maneuver requiring precise coordination and rapid response.
