The US Coast Guard has successfully intercepted and destroyed a drug-smuggling vessel during Operation Pacific Viper over the weekend.

The operation led to the seizure of nearly 13,000 pounds of cocaine and the arrest of seven suspected smugglers, marking one of the year’s most significant maritime drug busts.

According to officials, the drug boat was spotted in the Pacific Ocean and tracked before being intercepted. Once secured, the vessel was deemed unsafe to tow and was sunk at sea to prevent further use in criminal activity.

Authorities hailed the mission as a major blow to international drug trafficking networks, underscoring the Coast Guard’s role in safeguarding U.S. waters against narcotics smuggling.
