A luxury consignment boutique in Barrington, Illinois, was nearly emptied in a burglary that lasted under a minute, according to store owners and security footage. The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. at ReStyle Designers of Barrington, a family-run business that has been built over almost seven years.

Security cameras captured six suspects ripping items from shelves, pulling goods from display cases, and stuffing designer purses, apparel, shoes, and other merchandise into garbage bags while alarms sounded and lights flashed. Some of the suspects attempted to conceal their faces, while others did not, providing investigators with partial descriptions.

The owners reported that approximately 85 percent of their inventory was stolen during the rapid break-in. It remains unclear whether the suspects fled on foot or used a vehicle for their getaway.

Despite the devastating loss, the boutique’s owners remain resolute. “We are devastated, but we are not giving up,” they said, expressing determination to continue running their business in the wake of the incident.

Authorities are reviewing the security footage to identify the suspects and recover the stolen merchandise, highlighting the challenges small business owners face in protecting their inventory from increasingly brazen thefts.
