Operation Epic Fury began earlier in March 2026 following a series of Iranian drone and missile attacks that resulted in American casualties. In response, U.S. forces launched a broad multi-domain campaign targeting Iranian military assets as well as infrastructure linked to Tehran’s regional proxy network. The operation has involved airpower, naval strike platforms, cyber capabilities, and intelligence assets operating across multiple theaters.

The introduction of B-2 bombers into the campaign reflects a strategic shift toward striking deeper and more heavily fortified targets. Because the aircraft can travel long distances without detection and deliver highly precise weapons, they are often used during missions that require penetrating advanced air defense systems. Their deployment signals that the United States is prepared to target the most hardened elements of Iran’s military infrastructure if necessary.

Military sources also report that U.S. forces have achieved partial air superiority in several operational zones during the campaign, allowing American aircraft to conduct strike missions with greater freedom of movement. This advantage has been critical in enabling sustained operations against Iranian military targets while minimizing risk to U.S. pilots and assets.

Despite the operational success reported by U.S. commanders, the conflict has not been without losses. Officials confirmed that thirteen American personnel were killed earlier in the campaign when a support aircraft crashed during operational activities. The incident marked one of the most serious losses for U.S. forces since the start of the confrontation.
