In an unusual incident in Ashland, Virginia, a raccoon reportedly ransacked a liquor store before passing out in the bathroom, according to Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter. The masked bandit caused a stir before ultimately succumbing to the effects of the alcohol.

“Officer Martin safely secured our masked bandit and transported him back to the shelter to sober up before questioning,” the shelter said in a statement. The animal spent a few hours resting, showing no signs of injury aside from a possible hangover and questionable life choices.

After his brief stay at the shelter, the raccoon was safely released back into the wild. Officials expressed hope that the little intruder learned that breaking and entering isn’t the best path forward and emphasized that no animals were harmed during the unusual rescue operation.
