Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video statement outlining the conditions under which Israel would consider normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia. According to Netanyahu, any progress toward diplomatic ties would depend on Riyadh unequivocally rejecting alliances with forces opposed to Israel, including groups that deny Israel’s legitimacy.  

The statement comes amid recent Saudi diplomatic overtures to Qatar and Turkey, signaling Riyadh’s expanding regional engagements. Netanyahu framed these overtures as an opportunity to ensure that potential agreements with Israel are grounded in mutual security commitments and a clear stance against extremist actors.  

This announcement also revives discussion of the Abraham Accords, which have been stalled since October 2023 due to the Gaza conflict. Netanyahu emphasized that normalization talks could yield significant regional security gains if both parties align on shared principles, particularly regarding anti-Israel networks and threats.
