A man accused of killing two men in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is facing multiple murder charges after allegedly confessing to deputies and making disturbing claims about what motivated the shootings. Authorities say the incident occurred on November 7, 2025, at a home in the South Valley area of Albuquerque.

According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responding to a call discovered two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside the residence. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Children were present in the home at the time but were not harmed, officials confirmed.

The suspect, identified as Alexis Hernandez, 27, was taken into custody without incident. Bodycam footage released by authorities shows Hernandez speaking calmly with deputies as he admitted to the shootings. During the interaction, Hernandez claimed that a cockroach delivered an “encrypted message” instructing him to kill one of the victims. He also described hearing voices, feeling paranoid, and believing he was being stalked.

Investigators reported that Hernandez was armed with a firearm and a saber at the time of his arrest. He allegedly reiterated his unusual claims during subsequent interviews, at one point suggesting that remaining incarcerated would protect him from further perceived threats.

Hernandez now faces two counts of open murder. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, and the motive remains under investigation. Law enforcement officials emphasized that the suspect’s statements are allegations and part of an ongoing legal process.

The case has raised questions about whether mental health evaluations may play a role as proceedings move forward. Officials stressed that the justice system will determine the next steps based on evidence, court proceedings, and professional assessments.
