CHACHOENGSAO, THAILAND — Tensions have flared along the Thai-Cambodian border as military vehicles were seen heading toward the frontlines Thursday, following an escalation in cross-border hostilities.

The long-standing territorial dispute reignited when Cambodian forces fired rockets and artillery shells into Thai territory. In response, the Royal Thai Air Force scrambled F-16 fighter jets, launching a series of air strikes on Cambodian military positions, according to regional military sources.

Residents in Chachoengsao province, located near the eastern border, reported a heavy military presence and increased security measures as both nations brace for the possibility of further conflict.

“The situation is tense. Both sides are preparing for whatever comes next,” said one Thai defense analyst.

There have been no confirmed reports of civilian casualties yet, but both governments have advised citizens near the border to remain alert and follow safety directives.

The Thai Ministry of Defense has not released a formal statement regarding troop movements, though officials say they are closely monitoring developments and are prepared to protect national sovereignty.
