A shocking explosion in The Bronx late Wednesday left at least seven FDNY firefighters injured, three of them suffering serious burns, after a trash fire spread to a parked van and triggered a massive blast that rocked the New York City neighborhood.

According to local reports, firefighters responded to what was initially described as a routine garbage fire. However, within minutes, the flames spread to a nearby vehicle, causing an enormous explosion that sent debris flying and engulfed the area in smoke and fire. Witnesses described a deafening boom followed by chaos as firefighters rushed to pull their injured colleagues to safety.

FDNY officials confirmed that seven members of the department were hurt in the blast, with three sustaining significant burn injuries. Emergency crews transported the wounded to local hospitals, where they remain in stable condition. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest that flammable materials inside the van may have fueled the sudden detonation.

Mayor Eric Adams praised the bravery of the responding firefighters, calling them “heroes who risk their lives every day for this city.” The explosion serves as yet another reminder of the dangers first responders face daily, often with little warning or protection.
