Kilmeade highlighted a February 3 incident in which Iranian speedboats harassed a U.S.-flagged tanker transiting the strategically vital waterway. The vessel ultimately escaped unharmed after receiving a naval escort, a response Kilmeade described as a clear demonstration of American maritime dominance and commitment to freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.

He also referenced the same day’s interception of an Iranian Shahed drone by a U.S. F-35 fighter jet operating near the USS Abraham Lincoln. Kilmeade noted that the downing of the drone sent an unmistakable signal that hostile actions near U.S. assets will be met with immediate and decisive force, regardless of ongoing diplomatic efforts.

These incidents come just days before U.S.-Iran talks scheduled for February 6 in Oman, talks that were shifted from a broader multilateral framework previously planned in Turkey. According to Kilmeade, regional partners such as Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia were reluctant to participate publicly, reflecting skepticism about Iran’s intentions and concern over legitimizing its behavior.

Kilmeade criticized the narrow scope of the upcoming discussions, which are expected to focus exclusively on Iran’s nuclear program.
