An Australian surfer is counting his blessings after a terrifying encounter with a shark left him shaken but alive.

The incident occurred when the shark lunged at the surfer’s board, biting it with such tremendous force that both the man and pieces of the board were hurled into the air.

Witnesses described the moment as “like something out of a movie,” as the surfer fought to regain his balance in the water. Fortunately, he managed to swim to safety without serious injury.

Marine experts say such encounters, while rare, serve as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of ocean wildlife. Local authorities are now monitoring the area to ensure the safety of other beachgoers.
