Ukrainian soldiers have voiced strong opposition to the idea of ceding territory to end the war with Russia, warning that such a move would not secure lasting peace.

The comments come after President Donald Trump announced plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, where he suggested that both nations would have to give up some land as part of a peace agreement.

Speaking from a training site in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, troops expressed deep skepticism. “Giving up land will not bring peace — it will only invite more aggression,” one soldier said. Others emphasized that the war is about sovereignty and national security, not just borders.

The proposed meeting between Trump and Putin has sparked debate internationally, with some seeing it as a potential step toward ending the conflict, while others fear it could undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
