LONG ISLAND — Federal immigration authorities arrested a member of the notorious Trinitarios gang in a major law enforcement operation, part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal illegal migrants across the region.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that since the start of President Trump’s second term, more than 1,600 criminal illegal migrants have been arrested on Long Island. Local cooperation has also played a key role, with Nassau County Police handing over roughly 50 additional suspects to federal custody.

Officials said the latest arrest highlights the strength of the partnership between federal and local law enforcement. The Trinitarios gang, originally formed in New York City, has been linked to violent crimes including assaults, drug trafficking, and homicides.

“Strong cooperation with local departments continues to make our communities safer,” an ICE spokesperson said, underscoring the agency’s commitment to dismantling gang activity tied to illegal immigration.

The operation is part of a broader push by ICE to target violent offenders and reinforce public safety across Long Island.
