Authorities in Las Vegas have released a trove of chilling bodycam footage and 911 audio recordings detailing previous incidents involving Shane Tamura, the 35-year-old gunman responsible for last week's deadly mass shooting at a Manhattan skyscraper that left four innocent people dead.

The newly released materials shed light on Tamura’s mental health struggles, with his frantic mother repeatedly contacting 911 over the years, warning that her son was unstable, suicidal, and had a history of sports-related head trauma. In one particularly alarming call, she tells dispatchers that Tamura was threatening to kill himself and that his behavior had become erratic and dangerous.

“He’s not well. He needs help — he’s saying crazy things,” Tamura’s mother is heard telling a dispatcher in a previously unreleased emergency call.

Las Vegas police also shared bodycam footage of their past interactions with Tamura at his home, where he often appeared agitated, paranoid, or withdrawn. Officers were frequently called to intervene, but no charges were filed in most instances.

The NYPD is still investigating the tragic shooting that unfolded last week in Midtown Manhattan, when Tamura stormed into a high-rise office building, opened fire indiscriminately, and killed four people before being shot and killed by police.

Officials say Tamura had no clear motive, but that his mental health and untreated neurological trauma may have played a role in the rampage.
