HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A man attempting to evade deputies by hiding inside a sewer system was discovered after authorities deployed a drone, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were searching for the suspect when aerial technology revealed his location underground. The sheriff’s office said the use of drones has become an increasingly effective tool in locating individuals who attempt to flee or conceal themselves in dangerous or hard-to-reach areas.

The man was taken into custody without injury. Authorities noted that while the suspect risked his safety by entering the sewer, the drone’s capabilities allowed deputies to quickly and safely resolve the situation.
