Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt revealed that the organization operates a continuous intelligence and monitoring operation that works in close coordination with federal authorities, including the FBI, to identify and disrupt extremist threats across the United States.

Speaking at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, Greenblatt said the ADL maintains a dedicated intelligence unit staffed by 40 full-time analysts working around the clock, seven days a week. According to Greenblatt, the team tracks a wide spectrum of extremist activity and shares actionable intelligence directly with federal law enforcement to help prevent violence and protect communities.

“We monitor these people, and we share the intelligence with the FBI,” Greenblatt said, emphasizing that the effort spans ideological lines. He noted that monitoring includes groups ranging from the Democratic Socialists of America and pro-Palestinian activists to right-wing extremists, political Islamists, and Christian nationalists.

Greenblatt also highlighted the ADL’s extensive role in law enforcement training, describing the organization as the largest trainer of police officers in the country on issues related to extremism and hate. He said the ADL trains approximately 20,000 officers every year, providing instruction aimed at threat identification, prevention, and community protection.

The remarks come amid a dramatic rise in antisemitic incidents across the United States following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel. ADL data shows a sharp surge in threats, harassment, and violence targeting Jewish communities, prompting increased cooperation between civil society organizations and law enforcement agencies.

Greenblatt framed the ADL’s intelligence and training efforts as defensive and preventative, focused on stopping violence before it occurs rather than responding after the fact. He stressed that coordination with federal authorities is essential in an environment where extremist networks operate online, across jurisdictions, and often outside traditional law enforcement visibility.

The speech underscores the ADL’s evolving role as both a civil rights organization and a key partner in national efforts to combat extremism, hate-driven violence, and threats to public safety.
