Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivered a forceful statement following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, praising Kirk’s legacy while demanding rapid accountability for the crime.

“People talked about him running for office. He could’ve gotten elected... He would not have had nearly the impact,” DeSantis said. “He chose to go in the places where he knew he would get pushback.”

The governor highlighted Kirk’s influence as a cultural and political figure, arguing that his decision to remain in activism rather than run for elected office allowed him to reach and inspire far more Americans.

Turning to the pursuit of justice, DeSantis was unequivocal:
“We need a quick death penalty prosecution. I don’t want to see this take forever and a day. We need justice for this.”

DeSantis’s remarks reflect growing demands among conservative leaders for swift and decisive punishment of those responsible for Kirk’s assassination, while also underscoring the activist’s enduring impact on the conservative movement.
