A Brooklyn woman accused of killing a mother and her two young daughters in a reckless car crash is set to be sentenced on Wednesday. Miriam Yarimi, 33, a local wigmaker, pleaded guilty last month to manslaughter in connection with the March crash on Ocean Parkway, which also gravely injured the family’s 4-year-old son, Philip.

According to court records, Yarimi was driving a luxury Audi A4 on a suspended license when she sped down Ocean Parkway, colliding with an Uber before her vehicle careened into the victims. Natasha Saada and her daughters, Diana, 7, and Deborah, 5, were killed instantly.

Prosecutors noted Yarimi’s long history of reckless driving, including more than 93 traffic violations and 20 speeding tickets. After the crash, she reportedly went on “unhinged” rants to first responders, claiming she was “possessed” and “had the devil in me,” telling police at the scene, “The devil’s in my eyes... I didn’t kill anyone. I didn’t hurt anyone. Prove it.”

While prosecutors sought the maximum 15-year sentence, the judge offered a range of 3 to 9 years, a decision that has been criticized as too lenient. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated that the sentence still sends a message that reckless driving carries serious consequences. Prosecutors plan to submit a letter advocating for a longer sentence ahead of Wednesday’s hearing.
