WASHINGTON, D.C. — Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev delivered an emotional statement at the White House, declaring that the signing of peace and economic agreements with Armenia marks the end of decades of hostility between the two nations.

“We will turn the page of standoff, confrontation, and bloodshed,” Aliyev said. “I am very happy because today, we are writing a great new history. Mr. President, thank you for what you are doing for us, for our region, and for the whole world.”

The remarks came during a historic summit hosted by President Donald J. Trump, where Aliyev joined Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to formalize an accord designed to end long-standing conflict, open trade routes, and strengthen diplomatic ties.

Aliyev’s words underscored the significance of the event, reflecting a tone of optimism and gratitude as both countries pledged to work toward lasting peace. The agreement has been hailed internationally as a major diplomatic breakthrough with the potential to stabilize the South Caucasus.
