President Donald Trump pledged to take decisive action to address Washington, D.C.’s homelessness crisis as part of his broader public safety agenda. Speaking on his plan to “Make D.C. Safe Again,” Trump announced that homeless encampments across the city’s parks, underpasses, and public spaces will be removed.
“We are going to be removing homeless encampments from all over our parks,” Trump said. “We’re getting rid of the people from underpasses and public spaces… We’ll help them as much as you can help.”
The president framed the move as both a public safety and quality-of-life measure, asserting that reclaiming public areas will help restore the capital’s appearance and accessibility while offering assistance to those displaced. The policy will be carried out alongside Trump’s declared Public Safety Emergency and an intensified crackdown on crime in the city.
