JERUSALEM — The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed this week that they intercepted five drones and two missiles launched from Yemen, in what officials say was likely an attack orchestrated by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
Thermal imaging footage released by the IDF shows Israel’s advanced air defense systems, including the Iron Dome, intercepting the incoming threats mid-air. The successful interceptions prevented potential damage and casualties inside Israel.
Military officials said the incident underscores both the growing reach of Houthi operations and Israel’s capability to defend itself against aerial threats beyond its immediate borders.
The IDF emphasized that it remains on high alert to counter missile and drone attacks amid heightened regional tensions.
