A holiday stunt gone wrong has drawn attention in southern Kazakhstan after a driver in a classic Lada car attempted to drift around a large Christmas tree, only to crash directly into it and send the structure tumbling to the ground.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on December 24, 2025, in the city of Saryagash. Video footage shows a white Lada circling a fully illuminated Christmas tree standing approximately 40 feet tall. Moments later, the driver accelerates during an attempted drift maneuver, loses control, and collides with the base of the tree, causing it to collapse.

Local authorities quickly reviewed CCTV footage and identified the driver. Police confirmed that the incident was not intentional and described it as reckless driving rather than an act of vandalism. The driver was fined, and the vehicle was impounded as part of the enforcement action.
