A major fire broke out at a factory in Wolverhampton early Wednesday morning, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and prompting a large-scale emergency response from West Midlands Fire Service.
Firefighters were called to Sunbeam Street, near the junction with Upper Villiers Street in the Blakenhall area, shortly after 7.30am on Wednesday, January 14. Crews arriving at the scene found the industrial building engulfed in flames, with the fire visible from a significant distance.
Drone footage taken from above shows heavy smoke billowing from the structure as firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties. The scale of the response reflects the seriousness of the incident, with crews from eight different fire stations deployed to the area.
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that eight fire engines were sent to the scene, along with a 4×4 brigade response vehicle and a hydraulic aerial platform. The specialized equipment is being used to tackle the fire from multiple angles, including from above, to improve safety and effectiveness.
Emergency services remain on site as efforts continue to bring the fire under control. Residents and commuters in the surrounding area have been advised to avoid the location while crews carry out operations. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire or whether there are any injuries, with further updates expected as the situation develops.
