Motorist Narrowly Escapes Flying Roof During Violent Storm in Maine

MAINE — A driver in Maine had a terrifying close call when severe storms ripped the roof off a building, sending it flying through the air and nearly crashing into their vehicle. The dramatic moment was caught on video and shared on X (formerly Twitter), where it quickly went viral.

The footage shows the roof being torn away by powerful winds and tumbling across the roadway just seconds after the vehicle passed by.

Local media reported that firefighters were dispatched to at least 13 emergency calls during the storm, which caused widespread damage across the area. Many of the incidents involved trees falling on homes and vehicles, as wind gusts intensified throughout the evening.

Despite the destruction, no serious injuries have been reported so far.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that the region experienced localized wind events and severe thunderstorm activity, contributing to the structural damage observed in several towns.

Officials are urging residents to remain cautious, especially with more unstable weather expected in the coming days.
