SOUTHERN RUSSIA — Multiple explosions were reported Monday night across the cities of Adler and Sochi, as a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack targeted fuel depots, oil refineries, and other critical infrastructure in the region.
Eyewitnesses and local media describe a series of loud blasts followed by rising plumes of smoke, with several facilities reportedly engulfed in flames. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the affected sites, and firefighting efforts are ongoing.
Russian authorities have yet to release an official casualty count, but initial reports suggest significant damage to fuel storage sites and industrial zones. The scale of the attack has prompted heightened security across Russia’s southern infrastructure corridors.
“This appears to be one of the most extensive drone operations carried out by Ukrainian forces in Russian territory to date,” said a military analyst familiar with the region.
Sochi, a prominent resort city on the Black Sea, and Adler, home to key logistics and fuel operations, have rarely seen such direct attacks since the beginning of the war. The strikes represent a possible escalation in Ukraine’s use of long-range drone capabilities to target Russia’s economic and military assets far from the front lines.
Officials are currently assessing the full extent of the damage. No formal response has yet been issued by the Kremlin.
