The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have uncovered and destroyed a 500-meter-long Hamas tunnel in the town of Beit Hanoun, located in northern Gaza. The operation was carried out by reservists from the IDF's 646th Paratroopers Brigade during recent missions targeting underground terror infrastructure.
According to the IDF, the tunnel was part of Hamas’s extensive subterranean network used to facilitate the movement of fighters and weapons, posing a serious threat to Israeli forces and civilians. The military estimated that the tunnel’s construction cost several million dollars, highlighting the scale of resources Hamas continues to invest in its underground operations.
The discovery underscores the IDF’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist infrastructure throughout Gaza and to prevent future attacks against Israeli communities near the border.
Operations in the area are ongoing, with the military continuing to search for and neutralize similar threats.
