In a public message to the international community, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) firmly stated that “Israel is NOT blocking humanitarian aid” into Gaza, responding to growing accusations of obstruction amid a deepening crisis in the region.

This declaration comes as humanitarian agencies, including the United Nations, report severe conditions on the ground. Displacement orders, widespread food insecurity, and high casualty rates—particularly among civilians seeking basic necessities—paint a dire picture that seemingly contrasts with the IDF’s assertions.

The United Nations aid chief, Tom Fletcher, recently described international relief efforts as “a drop in the ocean,” warning of an impending catastrophic health emergency unless drastically more aid is delivered.

In the meantime, several countries are stepping up: Spain has announced a planned airdrop of 12 tonnes of food into Gaza, joining a limited number of international actors trying to bridge the growing humanitarian gap.

The IDF’s statement reflects Israel's official stance on the crisis, but aid organizations and independent observers continue to raise alarms about access restrictions, logistical bottlenecks, and the dangerous conditions for both aid workers and civilians.
