A Russian overnight strike on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia has left one person dead and at least 24 others injured, including three children, according to regional officials.

Governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed the attack on Saturday through a statement on Telegram, reporting that both residential buildings and infrastructure sustained damage. Emergency services worked through the night to treat the wounded and secure the affected areas.

The strike underscores the ongoing toll of Russia’s war in Ukraine, as Zaporizhzhia remains a frequent target due to its strategic location near the front lines. Local authorities said repair crews have been dispatched to restore essential services disrupted by the attack.

The incident marks yet another escalation in Moscow’s campaign of strikes against Ukrainian cities, which has repeatedly placed civilians at risk despite international condemnation.
