Speaking at Morristown Airport, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed a reporter’s question on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of strikes in Qatar.
“They have to be very careful. They have to do something about Hamas. But Qatar has been a great ally to the U.S. A lot of people don’t know that,” Trump said.
The President’s comments highlight a delicate balance: while backing Israel’s fight against Hamas, he also stressed the importance of preserving ties with Qatar, which plays a strategic role as a U.S. partner in the Middle East.
Trump’s remarks came shortly after an Israeli airstrike in Doha killed six people, including a senior Hamas leader — a move that escalated regional tensions and drew global attention. His response underscores Washington’s challenge of supporting Israel’s security operations while maintaining key alliances in the region.
