The U.S. Coast Guard has released footage showing the interception of a cartel-operated semi-submersible vessel in the Eastern Pacific as part of Operation Pacific Viper.

The operation, which began in August, has already seized more than 75,000 pounds of cocaine and led to the detention of 59 suspected traffickers. Officials say the semi-submersible, often used by cartels to evade detection at sea, was carrying a significant load of narcotics.

Coast Guard commanders praised the efforts of their crews and partner agencies, emphasizing the success of coordinated international operations against transnational criminal organizations.

Authorities note that cartels are increasingly turning to semi-submersibles and other advanced methods to transport drugs across oceans, making continued surveillance and cooperation critical to disrupting the flow of illegal narcotics.
