LONDON — Tragedy struck on Yom Kippur in Manchester, England, when an attacker drove a car into worshippers outside a synagogue before carrying out a stabbing spree.

Police confirmed that a Jewish man and a security guard were killed, while four others were seriously injured during the assault. The attack happened outside a packed synagogue in the Crumpsall area as congregants gathered for the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos as the vehicle plowed into the crowd before the suspect exited and began stabbing victims. Authorities have identified the attack as terrorism and confirmed that the suspect was neutralized at the scene.
