The video montage, assembled by the FBI, tracks the individual’s movements across multiple Providence streets near the Brown campus from approximately 12:40 p.m. to 4:03 p.m. on December 13, 2025. Investigators say the footage shows a consistent path and appearance leading up to the shooting at the university’s Barus and Holley building.
The attack occurred during finals week, a period when campus activity is typically heightened. Two students were killed and at least nine others were injured when gunfire erupted inside the academic building, prompting immediate lockdowns and a large-scale law enforcement response across the city.
Authorities have identified 20-year-old Brown University student Mustapha Kharbouch as the suspect. Law enforcement sources noted that Kharbouch was known as a pro-Palestine activist, a detail that has drawn national attention as investigators work to determine motive and assess whether ideological radicalization played a role. University officials have since removed the suspect’s online profiles as the investigation continues.
