Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the United States is actively proposing a timeline to conclude the war with Russia by early summer. Speaking on February 7, 2026, Zelenskyy said that Washington aims for all necessary negotiations to be completed and all documents signed to formally end Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by June.

“The Americans are proposing that the parties end the war by the beginning of this summer,” Zelenskyy stated, emphasizing U.S. involvement in shaping a structured path to peace. The comments were highlighted in a briefing photo circulated by OSINT firm Mintel World, underscoring the immediacy of the announcement amid ongoing geopolitical tensions after nearly four years of conflict.

This development aligns with Zelenskyy’s recently unveiled 20-point peace plan, which has received backing from the Trump administration. The proposed U.S. timeline appears to reflect both strategic leverage on the negotiating parties and domestic political considerations ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

While Ukraine has signaled willingness to cooperate under this framework, Russia has not yet issued a public response. Analysts suggest that a U.S.-facilitated agreement could create conditions for a rapid resolution, but key obstacles remain, including territorial disputes, security guarantees, and enforcement mechanisms.

If achieved, a formal end to hostilities by early summer would mark a major turning point in the nearly four-year war, offering relief to millions affected by the conflict and a significant diplomatic victory for Washington’s mediating role.
