Large crowds gathered in Gaza City for the funeral procession of Hamas military commander and several of his family members following an Israeli strike that targeted the senior terror figure. Aerial and ground-level footage showed mourners carrying flag-draped stretchers through damaged streets and crowded tent camps while Palestinian flags waved above the procession amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

Israeli officials confirmed that Odeh, who had recently been appointed chief of Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades armed wing after the death of his predecessor earlier this month, was killed during the strike. According to Israel, Odeh previously oversaw Hamas intelligence operations and played a role in planning the October 7, 2023 terror attacks that triggered the current conflict and led to one of the deadliest security crises in Israeli history.

Supporters of President Donald Trump and pro-Israel leaders described the operation as another significant blow against Hamas leadership and terrorist infrastructure operating inside Gaza. Israeli security analysts argued that targeting senior commanders connected to the October 7 attacks remains essential to dismantling Hamas’s operational capabilities and preventing future assaults against Israeli civilians and military personnel.
