Danon Rejects Hamas Games on Fake Disarmament Plan

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, delivered a clear and uncompromising message regarding Hamas and the future of Gaza. He stated that the terrorist group is now attempting to redefine what “disarmament” actually means. According to Danon, Hamas has proposed placing its weapons inside a warehouse within Gaza while retaining the keys to that facility. He flatly rejected the idea, declaring, “That’s not disarmament.”

Danon outlined Israel’s firm standard for genuine disarmament: Hamas’s weapons must be removed from Gaza entirely. Only after that condition is fully met, he explained, will Israel pull its forces out of the territory and work toward building a new future for Gaza. The ambassador stressed that Israel has no intention of accepting half-measures or clever word games from the group responsible for the October 7 massacre. “We will not play games with Hamas. We learned the lesson from October 7th,” he said.

The bottom line from Israel’s UN envoy is straightforward and rooted in hard experience. Hamas will not be permitted to retain any capability that would allow it to threaten Israeli civilians again. By insisting on the complete removal of weapons rather than temporary storage under Hamas control, Danon underscored a policy of lasting security over temporary arrangements that could unravel. This stance reflects the determination of a nation that has paid a heavy price for previous failures to eliminate the threat at its source.

Danon’s remarks reinforce Israel’s commitment to ensuring that any post-war arrangement in Gaza leaves the terrorist organization permanently stripped of its military power. The message is aimed not only at Hamas but also at the international community: symbolic gestures and rebranded proposals will not substitute for real results. Israel intends to finish the job of neutralizing the threat so that the horrors of October 7 can never be repeated.
