Tragedy in Jerusalem: Balcony Collapses onto Restaurant, Killing One and Injuring Others

A devastating balcony collapse occurred above a popular Angel Bakery branch on KKL Street in Jerusalem’s Rehavia neighborhood. Multiple emergency services, including firefighters, police, and Magen David Adom teams, rushed to the scene to search for trapped victims and treat the injured. The area was quickly cordoned off, with nearby roads closed as intense rescue operations continued amid concerns that people were trapped beneath the debris.

Initial reports confirmed one person was trapped unconscious under the collapsed structure, while three others suffered light injuries. Dramatic footage from the scene shows firefighters in yellow helmets urgently working through shattered glass, twisted metal, and rubble at the damaged storefront on a sunny afternoon. The incident involved a three-story residential building, highlighting potential structural safety issues in the area.

Tragically, the trapped individual—an 80-year-old man—was later extracted in critical condition but passed away shortly afterward. His wife and two teenagers were among those lightly injured in the collapse. Israeli rescue teams demonstrated professionalism and speed in their response to this heartbreaking incident in the heart of Jerusalem. Our thoughts are with the victims’ family and the entire community during this difficult time.
