IDF Destroys Hamas Tunnel in Ongoing Gaza Metro Crackdown

In a continued effort to dismantle Hamas' underground infrastructure, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the successful destruction of a Hamas tunnel system in Gaza, part of what has been dubbed the “Gaza Metro.”

The operation, carried out as part of the broader military campaign in July 2025, targeted a tunnel used by Hamas militants to transport weapons and coordinate attacks away from the view of surveillance and aerial strikes. According to the IDF, the tunnel posed a significant threat to Israeli troops operating in the region and to the security of Israeli communities near the Gaza border.

Military officials emphasized that the tunnel was discovered using advanced intelligence and surveillance tools, followed by a precision-guided airstrike to neutralize the underground route without causing unnecessary damage to surrounding civilian areas.

This marks another phase in Israel’s ongoing crackdown on Hamas' vast tunnel network, which has long served as a strategic asset for the group, allowing covert movement and launching points for attacks.

The destruction of the tunnel is being hailed by Israeli authorities as a strategic gain in limiting Hamas’ operational capabilities. No injuries were reported among Israeli forces.

The Gaza conflict remains highly volatile, with continued clashes, airstrikes, and ground operations contributing to a rapidly shifting battlefield landscape.
