CONEY ISLAND, N.Y. — Dramatic video shows two NYPD officers rushing into a burning home to rescue two men and their labradoodle, putting their own lives on the line to save others.

The incident happened on August 10, when officers from the city’s new quality of life teams spotted heavy smoke rising from West 36th Street near Canal Avenue while on patrol.

Guided by a neighbor, the officers reached the backyard of the single-family home, where flames were already consuming part of the structure. Despite thick smoke and intense heat, the officers pushed inside to rescue the residents and their dog, leading all three to safety.

The heroic act was captured on video obtained by The New York Post, showing the moment officers carried the labradoodle out of the burning home.

Fire officials later confirmed that no serious injuries were reported, crediting the quick response of the NYPD patrol officers for preventing a potential tragedy.
