Fires continue to burn at the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery in Russia’s Rostov Oblast for a third consecutive day, following a reported drone strike carried out earlier this week by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The refinery, located in southwestern Russia near the Ukrainian border, has been a frequent target since the escalation of hostilities. Local authorities confirmed that firefighting efforts remain underway, but the blaze has proven difficult to contain due to repeated explosions and the scale of the facility.

The attack marks one of several recent strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to disrupt fuel supplies supporting Moscow’s war effort. While no casualties have been officially reported, the damage to the refinery could significantly impact regional fuel distribution.

Russian officials have accused Ukraine of escalating the conflict with cross-border attacks, while Kyiv has defended such strikes as necessary to weaken Russia’s military logistics.

The situation remains volatile as emergency teams work to prevent further spread of the fire.
