Vice President JD Vance said Russia has made “significant concessions” to President Donald Trump, marking what he described as a turning point in the three-and-a-half-year conflict in Ukraine.
“For the first time in three and a half years of this conflict, the Russians have made significant concessions to President Trump,” Vance said. “We’re trying to negotiate as much as we can with both the Russians and Ukrainians to find a middle ground to stop the killing.”
The remarks suggest that the Trump administration’s mix of heightened economic pressure and direct diplomacy is producing movement at the negotiating table.
While details of the concessions were not immediately disclosed, U.S. officials say the administration is working to leverage these developments into broader peace talks.
Supporters argue this shows progress toward ending the war, while critics caution that concessions may be limited and reversible. Negotiations remain ongoing, with Washington emphasizing the urgency of halting civilian casualties and stabilizing the region.
