Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine has begun developing a broad “security system” across land, air, and sea in an effort to pressure Russia toward peace.
Speaking Friday, Zelenskyy emphasized that strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities is not only vital for his country but also for the stability of Europe as a whole.
“Ukraine has started to prepare a security system on land, in the air, and at sea aimed at pushing Russia towards peace,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian leader delivered his remarks during the Ambrosetti Forum in Italy, where he urged European countries to collaborate more closely on defense. “Europe needs a new network of modern defense production – countries supporting each other, producing protection not just for themselves but for all of Europe. This will make Europe stronger and more resilient,” he added.
Zelenskyy’s comments come as the war approaches its third year, with Ukraine continuing to call on Western allies for weapons, funding, and long-term security guarantees. Analysts note that Kyiv’s push for a coordinated defense system reflects a broader vision of collective European resilience against ongoing Russian aggression.
