JERSEY CITY, NJ — A man was shot by police Friday afternoon after allegedly opening fire on officers and civilians along JFK Boulevard.
According to authorities, the gunman began by shooting at several passing cars before pointing his weapon at pedestrians. Moments later, he opened fire on two separate police cruisers, striking both vehicles multiple times with four officers inside.
Police returned fire, hitting the suspect and bringing the chaotic scene under control. No officers or bystanders were reported injured. The condition of the gunman has not yet been released.
