NEW YORK — French President Emmanuel Macron got a taste of Manhattan gridlock when his motorcade was stuck in heavy traffic near the United Nations this week.

Video circulating online shows Macron stepping out of his car and speaking with an NYPD officer, apparently frustrated by the jam caused by President Trump’s motorcade and UN security measures.

Witnesses say the French leader then placed a phone call — reportedly to President Trump himself — in an effort to clear the way. The unusual scene unfolded shortly after Macron delivered a controversial address at the UN General Assembly.

The clip quickly went viral, with many noting the irony of a world leader experiencing the same traffic woes New Yorkers deal with daily.
